More pics of Den Bosch to share! First just a little coffeeshop. (and I mean COFFEEshop, we're not in Amsterdam)
And here you can buy all kinds of candy. Someone of our Royal family must have had their birthday, 'cause there were lots of flags with orange ribbons. (Orange is the sirname of Queen Beatrix)
Hééy! DS was in town too with his friend Tim. (Pim is on the left acting out..) Pim and Tim: sounds like a children's book !

Now a visit to St. Jan's cathedral. Some of the inside pics are blurry due to the lack of daylight and for some reason I feel that you do not use flash in a church..
The cathedral is being restored all the time and some of the statues and gargoyles are displayed inside....

Here is the ceiling painting of the all seeing eye of God. It's very blurry, but I wanted to show it anyway 'cause this was the reason for many nightmares when I was a child. The very idea that, no matter what you did or where you were, the sky could split open any time and THE eye would appear and see you. More like the eye of Sauron in my child's imagination!

The chapel of the Holy Mary is "famous" but alas...only for prayer and no pics allowed...
When we are in town we often lit a candle at the small wooden statue of St. Joseph, for my dad. He was a carpenter too.
Last pics are city hall and the tourist information...
Now what did I buy? No fabrics 'cause the quiltshop was closed on monday. No clothes: too tight, too pink, too expensive or just ieks and yuk. No shoes: too flat or too high

Great photos Annemiek!
Love the styles of the buildings in Nederland... 8-)
Fancy running into your son there! He obviously doesn't mind Mom with the camera! lol! 8-)
Love the inside of the cathedral! Wow! So very tall!
Stories of "the eye in the sky" were circulated in my childhood also... "The fear of God!" Not the teachings now...
Love the polka dot saddle bags are great! They will sure see you coming now! 8-)
Thanks for sharing more of your photos from you day out!
Mooie stad he? Willem Alexander is de 27e jarig! Vandaar dus het oranje.
Looks like you had a great time! Love the cathedral!!
the All Seeing Eye IS scary ... it reminds me of Santa Claus on steroids ... it appears here in the "Great Seal of the United States" and the Seal of Colorado, too ... AND it is on the back of the (U.S.) one dollar bill ... spooky
the cathedral is amazing!
sorry - i had to delete my first comment - i spelled "untied" instead of "united" ... whoops
Moet hoognodig weer een rondje Den Bosch doen. Het blijft een heerlijke stad.
Very cool photos! It's great to get so close to those gargoyles, too. I always found those frightening, now I really like them.
