Yesterday the weather was good again, so DD and I decided to go to 's-Hertogenbosch or Den Bosch as we call it. It's the capital of our province and it's where we go when we want to go shopping.
Because I made lots of pics, I'll post them "small" so it won't take hours for this post to load.
Let's go to Den Bosch! (Hop on Ranette!)
First thing you see, coming out of the trainstation, is the Golden dragon. There's a motorway going underneath and when we were kids my Dad used to announce it when we were about to drive Ășnder the Dragon (watch out, here comes.....THE DRAGON!!!!!! and we were getting all excited:))
DD ran in front of the camera every time I tried to take a pic!
A statue of a nursery rhyme that everyone knows here. When my kids were small we always had to go there and sing it out loud.
Quiltshop!!
At this time DD was getting annoying!

The window of a very famous baker, all prepared for the celebration of the Queen's birthday coming thursday.

The local treat is a "chocolade bol"

Looks like this and is filled with whipped cream. On a saturday people stand in line at this baker to buy some!! (I don't, it's too sweet and too much whipped cream.)

Later I'll show you more of Den Bosch. There's a cathedral too! Now I got to go: hairdresser's appointment!!

Thanks for the pictures reminding me of Den Bosch. During the fall of 2007 my husband taught at the University of Maastricht. Shortly before we left, we spent a day there, and I wish I had discovered it sooner. I did find the quilt shop (is there more than one?) and the bakery that you showed. Fortunately we are coming back the Maastricht in August for another semester, and I can't wait! I'll definitely make a return visit to Den Bosch. Thanks for the reminder, and I'll continue to follow your blog for other ideas of places to visit.
Thank you Annemiek for the sight-seeing this morning. I love the old buildings, so much history! I could almost taste the goodies at the bakery....yummy....and your daughter reminds me of my middle daughter....lol...very pretty girl.
i think you've covered the most important things - quilts and baked goodies ... ha! it is the opposite with my daughter - she gets annoyed with ME when i take pictures "this isn't for your blog, is it?!?"
p.s. - i REALLY love the gold dragon!
Love the golden dragon!
Quilt shop, bakery, what more do you need!?! 8-)
At least your daughter doesn't stick her tongue out when you snap the photos like my dear darling daughters do when they feel I've taken too many photos... Usually 2 is their limit... 8-(
Thanks for sharing your photos! 8-)
Happy stitchings!
well, I was tempted many times to stick out my tongue but that is soooo 2008 ;)
And well, after a while you get used to a mum with a blog and the annoying camera she points at you a bit to often..
Maar mam, haal alsjeblieft die laatste foto eraf want die is echt verschrikkelijk!!
xx, DD
I love the photos of Maren! She should have stolen that camera and taken some of you to post too! Where are the photos of the inside of the quilt shop??
Wat leuk zo'n vakantiedag in eigen stad. En Maren doet me denken aan al die lammetjes in de wei. Op het platteland dan!
Oh my! What an terrible horror at Koninginnedag!!! Sometimes I wonder what this world is coming too... Such terrible things happening all over the world... 8-(
What a wonderful show of quilts! Some awesome work and creation there! Very nice!
You best get working on that wedding dress for Lotte!!! lol! 8-)
Ok... on to the next post to see how bad you really were... 8-)
