Yes I can!

Dissapearing 9patch is popping up on several blogs. I noticed them, rather liked them, but i didn't know the pattern, nor did I get where the name came from.
Finally, last week my curiousity was tickled enough to google 'dissapearing 9patch" and immediately there were a few tutorials. I read those and got something that's called an "aha erlebnis" aka I "saw the light"!! As I told before I'm a machine piecing dummy. Machine piecing is sometimes oké, but never 'fun". Since I hardly ever do it, I'm, ofcourse, NOT very good at it. I made a plaid/star quilt on the machine and there's not one star that hasn't chopped of points. Hate that! I also hate non-matching seams.
But this seemed so easy that I wondered:... could I..? I pulled out my sewingnotions fabric that was waiting for a pattern to come along, plugged in the Husquavarna ánd my iron and gave it a try. First problem: I had only 6 different fabrics. Could I do it with only 6?

Well, YES! I could!! This was só fun to do that I couldn't stop sewing. Unbelievable that it took so long for me to discover this pattern. I have some tulipfabrics that would be perfect for this. And motorcyclefabrics.. Clearly I'm not done after this notions wallquilt. (that still needs a border:)
Not once the seamripper was necessary:) Look at those MATCHING seams!! And they kept on matching every time!

Now I'm wondering: what will happen if I cut the blocks not only horizontally and vertically, but diagonally as well??Perhaps I'll try that in EQ..

Your quilt is so pretty. I have recently cut a disappearing nine patch out, hopefully I can put it together soon.
