It wasn't me..!

I guess someone else took over my blog yesterday. It wasn't me, really!! :p
Seriously, I absolutely did NOT feel like myself. The numbness was gone around 4 pm and then ofcourse the pain started. I had my first meal and drink of the day around 6 but, thank god, things got better after that.
I even managed to go out to do some shopping with DS and look what I found after wanting these for 2 years! (they never had the correct size or model)

Yes, I own a pair of brand new, bright red Allstars! Thát's comfortshopping my friends!!
Today I'm me again. The sun's shining, the bleeding is over and the pain gone. Pfff!
Thank you for the support and I hope I don't have to whine again for a loooooong time..:)

Whining

One of my wisdomteeth had become sensitive to hot and cold and I noticed things started to become a bit infected in the back of my mouth. That's not what you'd want during your summerholidays so I quickly made an appointment with my dentist.
8.00 am this morning he was expecting me. (did you know I'm NOT a morningperson!?) The verdict: it had to come out, but I allready had figured that out. My dentist is a very nice person and he absolutely didn't want me to feel any pain so when his first attempt to numb my mouth didn't work, he tried again with another shot. And again. And again. I was home at 11, one wisdomteeth less, unable to speak properly and, due to the overall numbness in my mouth, drooling..
I skipped breakfast, and now at 1pm I still can't drink, eat. I can't smoke either to relieve my inner pain over not being able to feel my own mouth. Can't go out either to do some comfortshopping: my mouth looks funny and people stare. Besides I still drool from time to time.
I hate this. I hate dentists, toothache, the feeling when your teeth comes out. I hate that it rains all day, that I have a bad hairday and I don't know what to cook for dinner today. I don't feel like sewing and I hate that too. I hate commercial telephone calls espescially when you can't speak properly and i hate that i don't know how to spell espescially.
Oké, I guess I'm done now and I think that I might feel the tip of my tongue again and now I'm thinking off it, the left corner of my upperlip.
I wish you all a happy sunny day and perfect teeth..

Stash denial

Neighbourfriend Corrine keeps her fabric in boxes; colour by colour, theme by theme. Her polkadots are at my place because I was busy cutting and sewing polkadotted propellorblocks and we share our dots. She does visit them often.
She noticed that boxes get too small if you keep adding dots and last week she came by to bring a bigger box; the one on top is her old one.

I guess she's really in denial. I allready put her dots into a (much) larger box and as you can see, the lid doesn't even close anymore! *lol* She just said' oh" and when she was at a quiltshop last saturday, she bought a dot fq. She brought me a tulip fq. Not sure wheter she did that because we are friends or to shut me up about het fabric addiction...! (my box of dots is just as big I might add:)
Meanwhile I puzzled a bit more and managed to cut some more blocks from the Dutch fabrics I have.
It would be nice to take a trip to a shop that sells more of these, but DS's motorbike has engine troubles and to my companions here, that's priority number ONE. I kind of agree, ' cause when the bike isn't oké, DS is very lowtempered and grumpy to say the least. I guess fabric-hunting will have to wait; it's no fun to get on the bike and drive a long way by myself..
Youngest DD has another attack of backing tarts and muffins. Vanilla and cinnamon flavoured..
..just as i'm trying to loose some weight before summerholiday-bathingsuit time :(
And no, I just can't walk pass them. The smell alone makes your mouth water!! She made 3 tarts (luckily she took the larger part to her friends) and now she's browsing the internet to find yummy recipes of cheesecakes. *sigh*. I think she needs to find a boyfriend...
Blogger doesn't like my lay-out and messes up pics and text. Sorry for that;i gave up after re-doing this post 3 times...

Dutch puzzle

Last wednesday, Lotte invited me over to her place. A new washingmachine was being delivered and she had to stay the afternoon at home for that. So her quiltingroom was officially opened for business and for the first time fabric was scattered all over the floor and table!
Ofcourse I made a picture, but by next week she'll finally have decent internetacces at her home, so I'll let her show her quiltroom by that time.

It made me thinking that I need a portable piecing project to take along during this summerholidays. Some blocks allready cut in e.g. an envelop to take with me during trips either by car or by motorcycle.
I cut the first pieces while at DD's. (and she did point out to me that this was creating yet another ufo :)

So now I have a giant jigsaw puzzle on my wall!

It's the start of a Dutch quilt I saw in an ancient quiltbook. Red-white and blue Westfalen fabrics (that I showed before) and bits and pieces of Dutch traditional costumes I picked up here and there.
Yep, I used oldfashioned templates and scissors..no fancy speed cutting. Some of the costume fabrics were old and were actually worn, so I had to cut carefully to get the best pieces.
I'm almost halfway and have a better idea now.of what fabrics I still need to get to finish this.
Unfortunately the best and cheapest online shop is closed for the holidays (Minewood quilting) I found another one for the Westfalen stuff (Birdblocks) but they ask €5 more for a metre!!!! Ridiculous!
Half a quilt to be handsewn will keep me busy untill Minewood is open again :)
I'll put each block in an envelop , leave whatever is left on the wall and all I have to do is take a needle and thread and I can patchwork where ever I go!

Daughters!

My weekend started with a early call from the mailman. He had a package for DH and me! No fabric with DH's name on it. The handwriting looked familiar: it was from DD Lotte and her BF!

A big thank you card, cookies and marshmellows...

..and a voucher for a High tea for two at a restaurant of our choice!
Their way to thank us for the work we did at the new place. I told DD that I didn't want anything in return, but they decided otherwise:). Thank YOU Lotte and P. : we'll do it again any day!

Saturday evening was the night of the Prom or the big graduation Gala as we call it. DD Maren graduated last year but got invited for this year's gala.
I think she looks very very pretty! (dûh! I'm her Mum!!)

This was her ride to the school!
Getting in there was a bit, let's say tricky..... she couldn't stand on the shiny purple leather seats with her high heels on!

Steering wheel had to be re-attached..

But they made their grand entrance!

It took her 2 attempts to get out as elegantly as possible.... this time with her shoes on:)

Needless to say they had a great evening!
Further I'd like to say : thank you all for the nice comments and emails about "Loesje". The "poppy"pincushion was very well liked too. And thanks for giving me all your birthdates. *lol* Since I'm enjoying summer holidays, I'll try to write a tutorial so everyone can make their own pincushion for their own birthday. It might take a little while but I'll post it a.s.a.p.!
